#EverySweatMatters

Since getting serious as a Beachbody coach in August 2014, I have heard several coaches speak during national and team training and added several of them as Facebook friends. One of the coaches on The Dream Team, Katy Ursta, has an amazing story which was featured in January 2015 during Super Saturday.

As mentioned in the video, Katy went to the doctor to have a lump in her armpit looked at and after it didn't go away with a round of antibiotics, she thought it was mastitis. However, when she returned to the doctor for an ultrasound on the area an immediate biopsy was taken and she was told she likely had cancer! Katy was ALONE in the doctors office for a routine visit....Can you imagine that moment and what was going through her head as she sat there trying to absorb the information?!?!? I know I can't!!

Instead of feeling sorry for herself, Katy faced the cancer straight on and decided to #punchcancerintheface and sweat for something bigger! When life got hard or a treatment knocked her down...she sweat! She sweat out cancer as that was the one thing SHE could control in the journey! And without surprise, her sweating and journey inspired others.

Katy endured a lot of hardships in 2014... She did 12 rounds of intense chemotherapy and still completed Piyo, T25, and various other Beachbody Workouts. She drank shakeology every day and DIDN'T lose her hair...isn't that AMAZING!?!? She became an Elite Coach for Team Beachbody for the 2nd year in a row which is the top .01% of the company! She is currently a 9 Star Diamond Coach, she left her full- time teaching job to be a full-time Beachbody Coach, she was asked to tell her story in Scottsdale Arizona at the Beachbody Leadership Conference and she was on the Beachbody Super Saturday Video for Team Beachbody in January 2015. Katy is currently in remission from cancer and she has been nominated for the Woman of the Year in Pittsburgh to raise funds for the LLS.

From everything I have read on Facebook,  heard on team calls and seen in videos, Katy is a STRONG woman and when I first heard her story I was most amazed to hear that she didn't stop working out, eating healthy, or coaching others when she got this horrible news. I am also inspired by the confidence Katy has shown in her Facebook, blog posts and videos...and can't wait to met her at the Beachbody annual Summit conference in Nashville in July!!

WOW...what an inspiration!! It's no surprise that Katy has been nominated for the Woman of the Year in Pittsburgh which is a 10 week campaign where each nominee fund raises for 10 weeks for the LLS. The individual who raises the most money is the winner!

The Beachbody Dream Team...the Beachbody #1 team in 2015...wants to help Katy with her campaign! Every dollar raised goes towards families and individuals who are diagnosed with Leukemia or Lymphoma. It helps pay their medical bills, funds research to find a cure and better treatments and truly does help people in need! The LLS has been a great support to Katy and her family and she is doing everything she can to return the favor!

Facts about Blood Cancer:

Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20.
An estimated 1,129,813 Americans are currently living with blood cancers.
Every four minutes someone is diagnosed - more than 149,900 new cases are expected this year.
Every 10 minutes, someone dies from blood cancers - an estimated 54,630 deaths are expected this year.
Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma are cancers that originate in the bone marrow or lymphatic tissue as the result of an acquired genetic injury to the DNA of a single cell, which becomes malignant and multiplies continuously. This abnormal accumulation interferes with the production of healthy blood cells.

Facts about Leukemia and Lymphoma:

In the United States 310,046 people are living with or in remission from leukemia.
The five-year relative survival rate for a child under the age of 15 with ALL has improved from 3% in 1964 to 92% today.(lymphoma)
There are 731,277 people today living with lymphoma: 172,937 have or are in remission from Hodgkin lymphoma; 558,340 have or are in remission from nonHodgkin lymphoma (NHL).
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is the seventh most common cancer in the United States, and its age-adjusted incidence rose 89-percent from 1975 to 2010.
The five-year relative survival rate for patients with Hodgkin lymphoma rose from 74-percent in 1975 to 88-percent in 2009.

Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

Shakeology No Bake Cookies

Over the weekend, I made Shakeology No Bake Cookies (or balls). I prefer to make these as balls rather than flattening them as cookies.  I've made them with both Chocolate and Vanilla Shakeology and both are good.  Using the Vanilla Shakeology actually creates Peanut Butter Balls...you don't really notice the vanilla...it just mixes in.  My girls and husband prefer the Peanut Butter Balls, but when I am craving chocolate...this is a great option!  The girls love helping with this recipe and it's super easy! Ingredients:  1 cup Chocolate or Vanilla Shakeology 1 cup all-natural peanut butter 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats 1/2 cup raw honey How to Make:  Combine ingredients into a medium bowl, mix well with rubber spatula or by hand. Roll mixture into balls about 1 inch in size. Put into container. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Enjoy cold. Home Workouts brought my Pre-Baby Body & Confidence Back

After having my two girls, I struggled with getting to the gym as its daycare hours didn’t work around my schedule.  The best day for me was Saturday morning and thenI had to gather my iPad, earbuds, towel, diapers, wipes and two girls.  By the time we were buckled into the car, 30 minutes later, someone had to go to the bathroom.  Then once we got to the gym, I did an hour of cardio while watching Mad Men and walked around the equipment trying to recall sessions with a personal trainer years ago.  Then a week later, we did it all over again and during the week, I walked outside a few nights a week.  My eating habits were somewhat healthy, but I finished my daughter’s mac and cheese and nibbled on her pretzels and goldfish during snack time. As a result, I didn't lose weight, I was tired and I was somewhat depressed as I missed the time and luxury of going to the gym before they were born. Then a friend posted her results from 21 Day Fix and I asked her a few questions th

Almond Joy candy vs. wonder whip

As Halloween approaches, candy options are more and more tempting.  Ok, maybe candy is tempting all year around!!  You want to think those little pieces of chocolate won't affect your weight goals, but they can.  Especially when it's hard to just eat one or two.  Personally, I would much rather have several bites of dessert than just one, so these wonder whip solutions are an amazing alternative to a few pieces of candy!! They are much more filling and satisfying!!  Whip up a bowl today and give your sweet tooth what it wants!!   Thanks to Ilana Muhlstein for sharing this recipe and her registered dietitian knowledge through the 2B Mindset Nutrition program and certified mentorship training!  B oth the Almond Joy candy and wonder whip have 235 calories, but you get a WHOLE cup with the whip rather than just two bites!!  Ingredients:  1 Cup 0-2% Plain Greek Yogurt 1 TBSP unsweetened Shredded Coconut 1 TBSP Cocoa Nibs 2 tsp. cocoa powder
