It's Here...How to Get Awesome Results in 22 Minutes

As a busy working mom of 2 girls, my workout time is limited.  Each morning my alarm goes off at 5am and I'm in the basement pressing play to my workout between 5:15am and 5:30am...but now I'll snooze a few minutes longer as Beachbody has announced 22 Minute Hard Corp created by trainer Tony Horton.  It's a challenging but simple-to-follow workout program with modifications so everyone, no matter what your fitness level can complete in 8 weeks. There are 8 short workouts on the dedicated calendar with workouts being completed 6 days a week.  Your mind will never gets bored, and your body won't adapt. The workouts feature a unique blend of cardio and resistance training that targets multiple major muscle groups in your body and can help you lose weight fast. Last week, I completed a sneak peak of a cardio workout from the program.  Many of the moves were familiar but had a slight twist and were quick and intense. 10 Tips to an Awesome, Healthy Weekend

It's Friday!! While you may have some plans to relax, you also probably have fun activities planned like swim lesson, soccer games, basketball watch parties, movie date, birthday parties or dinner at a restaurant.  As I type my blood pressure starts to rise because I know the high fat, sugar, and hard to resist temptations that can fill a weekend. Last week we had friends over to watch a basketball game and our menu consisted of pigs in a blanket, pizza, chicken wings, cheese dip, fruit, veggies. Oh, and need I forget the beer, liquor, pop, cookies and cake! So needless to say there were limited healthy choices. This weekend will likely be the same unless I make some adjustments and have a plan.   Planning is best, when you are having company, headed to someone else's party or just eating at a restaurant.   You should limit eating out because of the temptations and expense, but when you do have a plan. 1.  Schedule your workouts.  I sleep in a little ...

Why the Cost of Shakeology ISN'T as Bad as You Think

Last Friday we arrived at the Cancun airport at 10: 30am  and I was  hangry !!  Yes, that's the right spelling...I needed something to eat because when my stomach growls....I become angry!!  There were a few options including Johnny Rockets, Bubba Gump,  Starbucks, Guacamole Grill or Grab n  Go. The  cheapest menu items from any of these was around $6- 8.   I wasn't   in the mood for lunch and had already had  breakfast, so all I  really wanted was a snack and something to take on the plane for  lunch.   Then  I remembered I had a Shakeology packet and my shaker cup in my bag . So  I purchased a bottle of water and a Ham and Cheese sandwich. The shake was just the snack I needed to hold me over to lunch (sandwich on the plane) and provided the nutrients I needed to fuel me with energy for the day....and with my coach discount, the packet is only $3.30 and I paid $2 for the water...so the che...

10 Tips for Fun & Healthy Travels to Secrets Akumal

Last week we set our alarm for 4:00am and started a long travel day to Secrets Akumal.  First we loaded a bus at the Griffin Gate Marriott in Lexington, KY and traveled to the Louisville airport.  Then we flew from Louisville to Atlanta and then Atlanta to Cancun.  Lastly, after a hour and 15 minutes bus ride, we finally arrived at the hotel and were home for the week.  Over the last 12 years of yearly resort travels, I have experienced and learned several tips and continue to learn something new each year.  Here are 10 tips for traveling to Secrets Akumal from my point of view.   1. Dress comfortably for a long day of travel...especially when traveling with your hubby and friends for vacation.  There really is no reason to dress up when you will be traveling for 8 hours.  Grab a favorite or new pair of yoga pants, tank top and light jacket.  You'll have to take off the jacket in security, but you may need it if the airplane or bus air ...
