Lift, HIIT, Rest, Eat and Repeat

This summer there are several ways we can enjoy family and friends but still move toward our health can fitness goals.  Thanks to these amazing trainers and my online accountability groups, you can lose weight and/or tone even while having your favorite foods and drinks.
How am I so sure that you can get results from June-August and still enjoy pool time, picnics and reunions? Because I lost 15 pounds during the summer of 2014 and maintained my results these last four years by sharing what I learned with others.
I've completed every new Beachbody workout that has launched in the last four years and can help you start with one you'll enjoy based on your fitness level and goals.  Plus I'm looking for 10 people to try the newest workout that launches June 11.
This new program will allow you to get strong and lean in just 4 days a week.  That's right, you workout only 4 of 7 days so you have more time to do the things you love...whether it's run, swim, rest or whatever.
Super Trainer Joel Freeman will get you building lean muscle and burning a ton of calories. The workouts are about 30 minutes on average and include what would normally take an hour and a half at the gym.
It’s called LIIFT4, and it’s an efficient, no-nonsense workout that combines weightlifting and calorie-burning high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Click on the video for more info.  You'll see the moves are based on classic lifting techniques that let you isolate, stabilize, and focus each rep on the muscle group you’re working.
Every workout ends with a quick core routine for a full-body build and burn that leaves you shredded. There are no gimmicky moves, no overly complicated routines, and no opportunity for boredom because you’ll do all 32 workouts of the program in real time with Joel and the cast, never doing the same workout twice.
There are two phases for maximum results: For the first 6 weeks, you’ll build, cut, and define your body, followed by 2 weeks to burn through calories and fat, revealing your ultimate physique.
And since a hardworking body needs fuel, there is a LIIFT4 Nutrition Guide to make sure you’re getting all the protein, nutrients, and healthy carbs you need for your best results. The guide does recommend you drink your daily Shakeology since each superfood nutrition shake has a healthy blend of potent ingredients, including high-quality proteins, probiotics, and essential vitamins and minerals.
This is ESPECIALLY important during the summer when you are sweating even more and enjoying "adult" drinks.  The shakes will refuel your body and keep you hydrated through baseball games and the morning after a LONG fun night with friends!!
In addition to shakes, I love Energize which gives you a boost to wake up and help push you harder during your workout. Plus there is Hydrate which is made with a fast-absorbing combination of water, carbs, and electrolytes that replaces what’s lost through sweat and can improve endurance.
I follow up my workouts with Recover post-workout which comes in chocolate cocoa or orange sicle flavors. And at new I drink Recharge with a dash of cinnamon before bed for the right proteins and phytonutrients to help speed recovery on sore muscles.
Finally, BEACHBAR is a satisfying, wholesome snack you can use to get more protein — and satisfy your sweet tooth. They are great to take to the baseball field, pool or work!
The LIIFT4 Program and Nutrition Guide features simple, back-to-basics nutrition with common sense guidelines that facilitate muscle building and fat burning.
The BEST part is, you can still have a life — the plan includes an optional “cheat day.” There are no gimmicks, no complicated recipes. Just five easy steps designed to deliver serious results.

Birds of Paradise - Chicken Recipe

Growing up, we ate a lot chicken. Chicken and rice. Chicken and salsa. Chicken casserole. I wasn't sure why we ate so much chicken. I thought it was just because my mom was on a Weight Watchers diet.  She would put the chicken in the oven and then go on a walk.  I always wanted to tag along on my bike. Now I understand. Chicken is quick and easy. Chicken is inexpensive. Chicken can be healthy. Now as a mom I also understand, my mom wanted to on on those walks alone...to have some peace and quiet time!
