Features and benefits can make or break a deal

I am often told fitness is too “expensive.” When I ask people if they would be interested in joining me in my online accountability groups and to complete a test group of a new program, their first question is typically, "How much does it cost?"
I get it.  I prefer to get the best price on the items I buy.  I use coupons and love a great sale.  However, rather than asking for the cost first, I want to know about the product or package and what it includes.I also think about how often I will use the item and consider that in the cost.
So when I looked at the cost of joining the online accountability and test group, I looked at what's included in the package:
  • Online Accountability group for support and motivation
  • 1 year access to 1000+ workouts
  • 1 month supply of meal replacement shakes or energy juice and recover drink to limit soreness
  • Optional Step
  • Nutrition Guides
  • Getting Started Guides
  • Wall Calendar/Tracker
  • Cooking shows and recipes
  • Meal plan templates

Then I thought about how often I would actually workout.  The average person with a gym membership only goes 2-3 times per week, which is 8-12 times per month? And by Feb 70% of people stop going.
Using an average of 10 workout sessions/month and comparing to the costs I found the cost per workout at the following locations:

You Fit = $1.00/workout
Planet Fitness = $2.20/workout
Anytime Fitness = $4.20/workout
Orange Theory = $12.50/workout (8 class pass)
BOD = $0.82/workout
Then I considered my hectic schedule and realistically determined based on past experience that I would likely only make it to the gym once a week.  That's when I decided to try home workouts.
Over four years ago, I started a 21-day program and did a workout 7 days a week.  It was only 30 minutes and was so much easier finding time to go to my basement to complete it.  I average working out 6-7 times a week, so the cost per workout is actually only $0.33/workout.,
Plus with the accountability groups and guides, I not only start programs, but I also finish them and have accomplished amazing results!!  Click here to hear my trainer describe the importance of joining a group.
Each day, I track my workouts and shakes in the online group.  Plus I know in addition to providing support for group members, I can ask questions and they will give me motivation and inspiration too.
As you consider your health and fitness goals, and determine a program to move you toward those goals, think about what is realistic for you.  If you have a hectic schedule and can't make it to the gym, then consider incorporating home workouts in your schedule.  If you need motivation and support, join online groups and participate in them fully.  Look at all the benefits and features in the membership and consider the whole package when comparing costs.
If you have any questions or decide Beachbody On Demand is the best option for you, email me and I'll answer your questions and help you get the best package and deal for your goals and fitness level!!

Shakeology No Bake Cookies

Over the weekend, I made Shakeology No Bake Cookies (or balls). I prefer to make these as balls rather than flattening them as cookies.  I've made them with both Chocolate and Vanilla Shakeology and both are good.  Using the Vanilla Shakeology actually creates Peanut Butter Balls...you don't really notice the vanilla...it just mixes in.  My girls and husband prefer the Peanut Butter Balls, but when I am craving chocolate...this is a great option!  The girls love helping with this recipe and it's super easy! Ingredients:  1 cup Chocolate or Vanilla Shakeology 1 cup all-natural peanut butter 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats 1/2 cup raw honey How to Make:  Combine ingredients into a medium bowl, mix well with rubber spatula or by hand. Roll mixture into balls about 1 inch in size. Put into container. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Enjoy cold. Home Workouts brought my Pre-Baby Body & Confidence Back

After having my two girls, I struggled with getting to the gym as its daycare hours didn’t work around my schedule.  The best day for me was Saturday morning and thenI had to gather my iPad, earbuds, towel, diapers, wipes and two girls.  By the time we were buckled into the car, 30 minutes later, someone had to go to the bathroom.  Then once we got to the gym, I did an hour of cardio while watching Mad Men and walked around the equipment trying to recall sessions with a personal trainer years ago.  Then a week later, we did it all over again and during the week, I walked outside a few nights a week.  My eating habits were somewhat healthy, but I finished my daughter’s mac and cheese and nibbled on her pretzels and goldfish during snack time. As a result, I didn't lose weight, I was tired and I was somewhat depressed as I missed the time and luxury of going to the gym before they were born. Then a friend posted her results from 21 Day Fix and I asked he...

Almond Joy candy vs. wonder whip

As Halloween approaches, candy options are more and more tempting.  Ok, maybe candy is tempting all year around!!  You want to think those little pieces of chocolate won't affect your weight goals, but they can.  Especially when it's hard to just eat one or two.  Personally, I would much rather have several bites of dessert than just one, so these wonder whip solutions are an amazing alternative to a few pieces of candy!! They are much more filling and satisfying!!  Whip up a bowl today and give your sweet tooth what it wants!!   Thanks to Ilana Muhlstein for sharing this recipe and her registered dietitian knowledge through the 2B Mindset Nutrition program and certified mentorship training!  B oth the Almond Joy candy and wonder whip have 235 calories, but you get a WHOLE cup with the whip rather than just two bites!!  Ingredients:  1 Cup 0-2% Plain Greek Yogurt 1 TBSP unsweetened Shredded Coconut 1 ...
