Strive for progress...not perfection

This morning while working out, I listened to Chalene Johnson's podcast "The Chalene Show."  Today's subject was "How to be Consistently Consistent." As I completed my 21 Day Fix Extreme Cardio workout, I listened to Chalene speak and had these take aways...
1. Consistency is improving regulary...not being perfect.
2. It's all in your mind.  You must create a postive mindset that you can by eliminating negativity in your head.  Create positive affirmations and state them when negative thoughts arrive.
3. Focus on the feelings you have when you accomplish something.
4. Be accountable...join accoutability groups or get a success partner.
5. Have a plan based on purpose....and write it down!!
6. Be a "lifer" --  Be a lifelong student to continue learning how to be the best mom, wife, professional, etc.
7. Strive for consistency, not perfection...It's ok if your goal is to workout 7 days a week, but you only workout 5 days...life happens, just get back into it the next day!  If you have pizza for dinner on Monday night (like I did last night) balance it out with salad and then have healthier choices the next day!!!  Strive to eat healthy 80% of the time and enjoy what you love the other 20%...without feeling guilty.

Life is short...don't deprive yourself of everything and be sure you check in with your priorities regularly to make sure you are focusing on what's really important!

During my break at work, I continued my daily personal development with Chalene's 30 Day Challenge email based on her book, PUSH. She begins the first email & chapter talking about how we can feel overwhelmed with all kinds of chaos and not know how to focus to be able to say "I did it all." We need to create our own system to be able to get the 5 most important things completed each day.  To do this, it's important to have accountability partners or groups to help develop a habit to do things daily.  The chapter ends with a list of life areas and you are asked to score this areas based on the satisfaction you feel about them today.

In Day 2 & Chapter 2, Chalene starts to help us determine priorities....what makes us unhappy, unfulfilled or bored? She explaines the difference between intrinsic and key priorities.  Intrinsic priorities are the areas of life that come easily, don't need accountability and is part of your fiber.  It's what comes as 2nd nature.  For me, I love workout out and getting up early in the morning to get it done.  A year ago, I needed accountability with this, but with the Beachbody Challenge and my challenge groups, working out become a habit again and is 2nd nature for me.

But with this new change in intrinsic priorities, my Key Priority has shifted and I need to work on quality time with my husband, Matt and watching how I spend money.  Due to changes in our environment with kids at different stages and with my Beachbody business, I need to be more aware of the money I spend and how I spend my time.

These areas need to be in balance for me to be at peace and completely happy...and it's a continuous work in progress as my life and situations are always changing.  The most important thing to do is revisit my priorities every 3-6 months and make a new plan to help keep the areas of life in balance and create happiness and harmony.  I first read PUSH in January...7 months ago, so I am overdue with a refresh and excited to share this journey with you!

How do you rate these areas of your life?  Which are your intrinsic & key priorities?
#1: Physical Health

#4: Financial
#5: Leisure/Fun
#6: Friends/Family

Shakeology No Bake Cookies

Over the weekend, I made Shakeology No Bake Cookies (or balls). I prefer to make these as balls rather than flattening them as cookies.  I've made them with both Chocolate and Vanilla Shakeology and both are good.  Using the Vanilla Shakeology actually creates Peanut Butter Balls...you don't really notice the vanilla...it just mixes in.  My girls and husband prefer the Peanut Butter Balls, but when I am craving chocolate...this is a great option!  The girls love helping with this recipe and it's super easy! Ingredients:  1 cup Chocolate or Vanilla Shakeology 1 cup all-natural peanut butter 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats 1/2 cup raw honey How to Make:  Combine ingredients into a medium bowl, mix well with rubber spatula or by hand. Roll mixture into balls about 1 inch in size. Put into container. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Enjoy cold. Home Workouts brought my Pre-Baby Body & Confidence Back

After having my two girls, I struggled with getting to the gym as its daycare hours didn’t work around my schedule.  The best day for me was Saturday morning and thenI had to gather my iPad, earbuds, towel, diapers, wipes and two girls.  By the time we were buckled into the car, 30 minutes later, someone had to go to the bathroom.  Then once we got to the gym, I did an hour of cardio while watching Mad Men and walked around the equipment trying to recall sessions with a personal trainer years ago.  Then a week later, we did it all over again and during the week, I walked outside a few nights a week.  My eating habits were somewhat healthy, but I finished my daughter’s mac and cheese and nibbled on her pretzels and goldfish during snack time. As a result, I didn't lose weight, I was tired and I was somewhat depressed as I missed the time and luxury of going to the gym before they were born. Then a friend posted her results from 21 Day Fix and I asked her a few questions th

Almond Joy candy vs. wonder whip

As Halloween approaches, candy options are more and more tempting.  Ok, maybe candy is tempting all year around!!  You want to think those little pieces of chocolate won't affect your weight goals, but they can.  Especially when it's hard to just eat one or two.  Personally, I would much rather have several bites of dessert than just one, so these wonder whip solutions are an amazing alternative to a few pieces of candy!! They are much more filling and satisfying!!  Whip up a bowl today and give your sweet tooth what it wants!!   Thanks to Ilana Muhlstein for sharing this recipe and her registered dietitian knowledge through the 2B Mindset Nutrition program and certified mentorship training!  B oth the Almond Joy candy and wonder whip have 235 calories, but you get a WHOLE cup with the whip rather than just two bites!!  Ingredients:  1 Cup 0-2% Plain Greek Yogurt 1 TBSP unsweetened Shredded Coconut 1 TBSP Cocoa Nibs 2 tsp. cocoa powder
