Packing Tips for a Resort Paradise Vacation

Spring break and summer vacations are just around the corner!! If you are headed to a resort paradise destination, here are some tips I think you may find helpful.... 1. Limit outfits and dresses: If traveling to a resort you can really limit what you take. I like to wake up each morning and start the day with a workout or walk on the beach so I pack shorts, tank tops and socks for each day. I wear my tennis shoes to the airport and then change into sandals before we land in the tropical paradise. After my workout, I typically order room service (or Matt will order while I'm in the middle of my workout). I prefer to have breakfast delivered to the room so that I can change into my swimsuit and apply my first layer of sunscreen.  I bring a swimsuit, cover up and coordinating sandals/flip flops for each day. After spending the day at the beach and pool, I return to the room to get ready for dinner.  I pack one dress for each night.  I love dresses, but they are not required

Daily Encouragement and Reading Results in Increased Confidence

Last night I watched 6 AMAZING women share how they found the coaching and I’m fired up once again.  If I weren’t already a coach, I’d become one now. I’ve been having a rough time with some changes recently but thanks to good friends, many that I made through my experiences as a coach, listening to books that increase my confidence and getting “me” time through exercise I am able to life myself up when I’m down rather than just go into a depressed state. There have been times when I was knocked down and I wanted to stay on the ground, but the I listen to “You are a Badass” or “Big Magic” and I’m reminded about how much I have to offer and the these battles are just making me stronger.   Before becoming a coach I was encouraged through UK Leadership programs to read specific books and people talked about listening to podcasts and Audible, but it didn’t hit me until I was encouraged daily through Beachbody to read. Sometimes we hear things and know they are a good idea but

Countdown to Spring Vacation Fitness Plan

Only 45 more days until I head to the Dominican Republic with my friend, Sarah Whitney. Can you believe we only met 8 months ago and now we are going on a paradise excursion together?!?! Although we are still "new" friends, I feel like I've known her for years!! We talk daily through and app called Voxer and co-host fitness support groups to help our friends (old and new) and family work toward their fitness goals.  In the process we stay more accountable to our own fitness goals...plus I've increased my confidence through listening to leadership books daily and found a new passion for teaching group fitness classes with Country Heat LIVE. Ok, so back to this week.  It's March Madness and living in Kentucky means everything revolves around basketball this time of year!! So as I created my meal plan for the week I had to consider that UK plays sometime on Friday and we will be watching basketball most of the weekend. Courtney has dance practice on Monday and

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

What do you want to be when you grow up? Personally... I’ve always wanted to be a CAREER MOM. I always envision myself graduating from the University of Kentucky, getting married, working at a big corporation, having 2 kids, and spending time with friends. I was DETERMINED to create a successful CAREER, SUPPORT myself and contribute to my family.  Even after having kids, there was no doubt in my mind that I would return to work....because I couldn't imagine being home all day.   It wasn’t easy taking the girls to daycare, but seeing how INDEPENDENT and HAPPY we are today I know it was what was best for them AND me!! I LOVE being a MOM but I also have an intense desire to be SUCCESSFUL. I am ENERGIZED through my work and accomplishments. I love to receive recognition and rewards.  I enjoy meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends.  I prefer to be busy and tend to get more done when my plate is full. Yet when I was first introduced to this opportunity I

What you have now vs What you Want Most

One of the things I love about UK and Beachbody is they both encourage professional development....I have a new book that I'm listening to from daycare to work and this is what I heard that stuck with me today.... "In life there are only three things you can control...your actions, your reactions and your mindset. That's it nothing more. So instead of whining about the things that are out of your control...focus your energy on what you can control... your attitude, choices, emotions, goals, visions, dreams, desires, and discipline. Discipline is choosing between what you have now and what you want most." I remember 3 years ago I was not happy with my body...I sat at the pool "whining" to myself that I couldn't get to the gym and I'd never have my pre-baby body back.   Then I saw a friend post her pics from doing home workouts and I decided to take control and change my attitude.  I COULD get my body back..It would be hard work and I'd have

Savor Each Moment

For lent, I decided to take something on rather than give something up. Health and wellness have totally transformed how I feel and move about each day.  I am healthier and happier. My energy and confidence has increased.   While I have incorporated daily workouts and healthy eating into my lifestyle, it's been a challenge consistently adding silence, reflection, meditation and journaling.  I read about this a few months ago in the book Miracle Morning .  I did a 21 day challenge with it and loved the way I felt starting the morning with these 4 additional things.  Then after the challenge, I wasn't holding myself accountable to them and I slipped away from doing them.  I have found myself back to being moody and anxious.  I  want to relax and listen more.  I need to practice savoring the moment and enjoying the little things rather than always planning, preparing, fixing and organizing.  I still think these things are important and I will continue to do them, but I also
