Savor Each Moment

For lent, I decided to take something on rather than give something up. Health and wellness have totally transformed how I feel and move about each day.  I am healthier and happier. My energy and confidence has increased.

While I have incorporated daily workouts and healthy eating into my lifestyle, it's been a challenge consistently adding silence, reflection, meditation and journaling.  I read about this a few months ago in the book Miracle Morning.  I did a 21 day challenge with it and loved the way I felt starting the morning with these 4 additional things.  Then after the challenge, I wasn't holding myself accountable to them and I slipped away from doing them.

I have found myself back to being moody and anxious.  I  want to relax and listen more.  I need to practice savoring the moment and enjoying the little things rather than always planning, preparing, fixing and organizing.  I still think these things are important and I will continue to do them, but I also need to take time to stop, listen, reflect and enjoy the moment.

So each morning along with my workout, I'm going to add silence, reflection, meditation and journaling (or blogging) to my routine.  To stay accountable to this goal, I will post about the daily devotions I read and reflect on and I will share how adding these things to my morning routine is affecting the other parts of my day.

I'd love for you to come on this journey with me.  Watch and read my posts, ask about my progress and help me stick to my goal of doing these things for the next 40 days.  And if you want, you could add them to your routine too and/or read The Miracle Morning and incorporate them one at a time. Then we could help each other with savoring the moment and listening more to God, ourselves and those most important to us.

Birds of Paradise - Chicken Recipe

Growing up, we ate a lot chicken. Chicken and rice. Chicken and salsa. Chicken casserole. I wasn't sure why we ate so much chicken. I thought it was just because my mom was on a Weight Watchers diet.  She would put the chicken in the oven and then go on a walk.  I always wanted to tag along on my bike. Now I understand. Chicken is quick and easy. Chicken is inexpensive. Chicken can be healthy. Now as a mom I also understand, my mom wanted to on on those walks alone...to have some peace and quiet time!
