Eager to Pray - FUMC Andover

Sunday's sermon at the First United Methodist Church-Andover hit me in several different ways.  The words spoke not only related to me spiritally but also personally and physically.

Here are my notes that I took from the sermon...

We make so many decisions each day...some effect just ourselves and others effect others around us.
How do we know if our decision is the desire of God?
The best way to know is through prayer which is an encounter with Christ...it's about listening.
Listen to God throughout the day, no matter what you are doing...that's prayer.
We know God is present, without seeing or actually hearing a voice.
You just know his desire.
We desire to follow his will, but do we actually do the actions?
Seek God's desire through prayer and commit...BE ALL IN!!

Too many times we look for what we want as the answer for God's desire rather than truly being ALL IN and waiting for God to speak his desire.
Our mind must be renewed by scripture.
Let God transform you into a new person by changing how you think.
Allow the scripture to renew your mind.
Not a quick fix, but the deeper and deeper you get week after week your mind changes.

The Bible is community focused but we miss that.
We hear God's voice the more we are in community and the more we share about ourselves with the community.
All the truths, even when they are hard to share.
Let God speak the truth to you through a community.
Find a community through Sunday School, worship service, support groups, etc.

It's not just about the next 3 weeks.
It's about our life.
It's not about building just us up but the kingdom of God and the entire community.
Will you BE ALL IN with the aspects of your life and make the extra effort?

God will be in control if you speak the truth in your community and listen to the community and God for help.

Birds of Paradise - Chicken Recipe

Growing up, we ate a lot chicken. Chicken and rice. Chicken and salsa. Chicken casserole. I wasn't sure why we ate so much chicken. I thought it was just because my mom was on a Weight Watchers diet.  She would put the chicken in the oven and then go on a walk.  I always wanted to tag along on my bike. Now I understand. Chicken is quick and easy. Chicken is inexpensive. Chicken can be healthy. Now as a mom I also understand, my mom wanted to on on those walks alone...to have some peace and quiet time!
