Year End Resolution Results

My Year End Resolution for November and December was to maintain my goal weight throughout the holidays.  I lost 12 pounds and 2 clothing sizes in 2015...after losing 8 lbs and 2 clothing sizes in 2014.  I was determined to keep that weight off!!  I started with 21 Day Fix in late November and then Hammer and Chisel to end of the year.

Each morning, I sent a text to 3 friends (aka my 5am support group) and then I pushed play using Beachbody On Demand through my basement TV’s Roku.  Ok, the workouts weren't at 5am during the holiday break, but I typically got them in by 8am or 9am!! After my workout I drank Shakeology for breakfast with ice, water, a banana and a Boost of Power Energy and Power Greens.  Even during my holiday break from work, I continued my normal workout and shake routine because I feel good when I start my day with these. The one day I didn't start with a workout and shake I was off....I was in a bad mood and it just didn't feel right.  I finally got the workout in that day after lunch and then had my shake as an afternoon snack and felt back to "normal."

While I enjoyed my favorite holiday dishes like pretzel salad and macaroni salad on Christmas Day, I used portion control and followed a 70/30 rule with my meal plan throughout the holidays.  I made sure to continue to have my fruit and cottage cheese as a mid-morning snack and veggies with hummus instead of goldfish for afternoon snack. I love NOT being restricted with food choices and being able to eat my fruit and veggie preferences!!! I eat every 2-3 hours which keeps me full & happy!!
After having 2 girls and at 37 years old, I never thought I'd be in the best shape of my life!! I played softball and was a cheerleader in high school and then worked at a gym in college.  Even after getting married, I worked out 4-5 days a week for about 1-2 hours a day in the gym but never saw the type of results I have achieved in the last 18 months with Beachbody!!

Before starting 21 Day Fix, I would spend 30 minutes packing my gym bag with a towel, water, iPad, diapers, and headphones.  I would run in and out of the house 2-3 times forgetting things and then as I pulled out of the driveway….someone had to go to the bathroom.  It would take at least 30-40 minutes to get to the gym which was only 10 minutes away and then I would spend 45 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical and 20-30 minutes walking around trying to determine which machines to do randomly.

My girls didn’t mind going to the gym daycare, but it didn’t open until 9am on Saturday and that was typically the only day I could go.  No I can complete my workouts using Beachbody on Demand daily streaming via Roku and use my iPad and iPhone when I travel!   Having 100s of workouts available to access provides a wonderful mix and as a coach I can try what my customers are using as well!!  I have completed several rounds of 21 Day Fix, 21 Day Fix Extreme, InsanityMax30, CIZE, and PiYo.  Plus I can get my workouts done when I want to do them anytime of the day…I choose first thing in the morning and even during the holidays, got them done so I could spend the rest of the day doing other things I wanted to do for myself and my family!! In the last 12 months, there have been maybe 10 days I didn’t work out. My workouts each day are only 30-40 minutes long, but they are intense and effective.

As a coach, I start a new challenge group with old and new friends every 3 weeks and make new small goals.  Finding a support system through challenge groups both big and small keeps me motivated and accountable each month…this is something I never had when I went to the gym on my own!  I have rekindled numerous relationships from high school and college and have made wonderful new friendships with positive people that I otherwise would have never met!

Since I was a kid, I ate a sugary bowl of cereal, milk and glass of orange juice for breakfast each morning.  I had low fat ice cream or another bowl of cereal every night after dinner and didn’t drink much water.  I didn’t think much about the pretzels and goldfish I consumed for snacks and thought I was doing well because I ate low fat foods and used a Foreman grill.

Since starting my Beachbody fitness journey and drinking Shakeology for breakfast, I spend less time in the kitchen in the morning and receive a healthier meal full of vitamins and nutrients that tastes great!  There were only a few days I was sick in the last year and I contribute that to my transition into a healthier lifestyle in 2015!!

Happy New Years
I’m excited to report a 3-5 lb weight gain and NO measurement change during the holidays!! Mission Accomplished...ok so my goal was to not gain any weight, but I'll take 5 pounds or less. The scale isn't always the most accurate way to track progress...who's to say I didn't gain muscle during the month which could have caused my slight weight increase??  I think it was the extra cheats and treats and not muscle, but I am not discouraged by my results.  Through daily workouts, drinking Shakeology and healthy eating choices (at least 70% of the time), I limited my weight gain and maintained my energy level even during the holidays!! I am still confident with my body and am more positive than ever!!

Now I am completing my 2nd month of Hammer and Chisel and 100% committed to my meal plan which means only 1 cheat meal a week…no 70/30 this month!!  I am headed to Mexicoat the beginning of February and I want to rock my bikini like I did last year after completing 21 Day Fix Extreme!!

My January goal is to tone and not drink Diet Soda....yes, in the past 18 months I still haven't been able to give it up, but I'm committed to water, coffee and green tea for the month....oh and a little bit of wine when I have an extra yellow container....what's a yellow container....it's part of the container system I use for my meal planning which I explain the first week of the support/accountability groups.

Are you ready for a change or to revive your fitness journey?
My next challenge group starts Monday, January 18, 2016.

Shakeology No Bake Cookies

Over the weekend, I made Shakeology No Bake Cookies (or balls). I prefer to make these as balls rather than flattening them as cookies.  I've made them with both Chocolate and Vanilla Shakeology and both are good.  Using the Vanilla Shakeology actually creates Peanut Butter Balls...you don't really notice the vanilla...it just mixes in.  My girls and husband prefer the Peanut Butter Balls, but when I am craving chocolate...this is a great option!  The girls love helping with this recipe and it's super easy! Ingredients:  1 cup Chocolate or Vanilla Shakeology 1 cup all-natural peanut butter 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats 1/2 cup raw honey How to Make:  Combine ingredients into a medium bowl, mix well with rubber spatula or by hand. Roll mixture into balls about 1 inch in size. Put into container. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Enjoy cold. Home Workouts brought my Pre-Baby Body & Confidence Back

After having my two girls, I struggled with getting to the gym as its daycare hours didn’t work around my schedule.  The best day for me was Saturday morning and thenI had to gather my iPad, earbuds, towel, diapers, wipes and two girls.  By the time we were buckled into the car, 30 minutes later, someone had to go to the bathroom.  Then once we got to the gym, I did an hour of cardio while watching Mad Men and walked around the equipment trying to recall sessions with a personal trainer years ago.  Then a week later, we did it all over again and during the week, I walked outside a few nights a week.  My eating habits were somewhat healthy, but I finished my daughter’s mac and cheese and nibbled on her pretzels and goldfish during snack time. As a result, I didn't lose weight, I was tired and I was somewhat depressed as I missed the time and luxury of going to the gym before they were born. Then a friend posted her results from 21 Day Fix and I asked her a few questions th

Almond Joy candy vs. wonder whip

As Halloween approaches, candy options are more and more tempting.  Ok, maybe candy is tempting all year around!!  You want to think those little pieces of chocolate won't affect your weight goals, but they can.  Especially when it's hard to just eat one or two.  Personally, I would much rather have several bites of dessert than just one, so these wonder whip solutions are an amazing alternative to a few pieces of candy!! They are much more filling and satisfying!!  Whip up a bowl today and give your sweet tooth what it wants!!   Thanks to Ilana Muhlstein for sharing this recipe and her registered dietitian knowledge through the 2B Mindset Nutrition program and certified mentorship training!  B oth the Almond Joy candy and wonder whip have 235 calories, but you get a WHOLE cup with the whip rather than just two bites!!  Ingredients:  1 Cup 0-2% Plain Greek Yogurt 1 TBSP unsweetened Shredded Coconut 1 TBSP Cocoa Nibs 2 tsp. cocoa powder
