In June of 2014, my emotions were out of sorts. My youngest daughter had just turned 2. The days of breastfeeding and even bottle
feeding were gone, but she was still clingy and demanded my attention
(well she still does). My oldest
daughter was 6 and still figuring out how to share her parents and also growing
to be more independent. I had a fabulous
family, a warm home and a wonderful job, but I wasn’t completely happy.
Although my schedule was busy and our plate was full of activities, there was still something that wasn’t completely right. I would get angry over small things and disgusted when things weren’t done “my” way. I had a VERY short fuse and little control over my emotions. I considered counseling but decided if I could find a way to relieve the stress and gain “me” time daily I might be able to adjust my emotions on my own. I also talked with my husband and we discussed the issues and he set me straight several times even when I didn’t want to hear it.
Then I found exactly what I was looking for...an online health
and fitness support and accountability group. Along with the group I found new 30 minute daily home workouts, a portion control meal plan
guide and inspiration from individuals with a shared vision to
improve themselves. Each day I rolled
out of bed at 5am and drug myself to the basement for the workout. I used modifications moves in the beginning
because despite being athletic all my life, I was weak from child bearing and
needed to strengthen my body inside and out.
After the workouts, I logged onto the private Facebook group
and read the morning post from my coach.
It was always inspirational and motivating and gave me something to
think about throughout the day. Throughout the day I thought about the post and having to rate myself at the end of the
night which kept me on target with the meal plan I created weekly and helped me increase my water
intake. The private Facebook group also
gave me an outlet to post my daily victories and struggles. People I didn’t know were cheering me on and
giving me advice and virtual high 5s and it felt great!!
When the first challenge was over (30 days), I had lost 5
pounds and my clothes were loose. I was
happy with my results, but even more excited that my emotions were more controllable. Yes, throughout the month I had ups and
downs, I was sad, disgusted, angry and scared at time, but mostly I was full of
joy!!! I truly believe working through my emotions and having time again for
myself help me grown and become better both inside AND out!!
So now , I want to pass on this amazing experience and opportunity I have found. As a Beachbody Coach, I am co-hosting a “Love Yourself Inside & Out” Challenge Group that starts on Monday, February 8. This will be a small, private group of individuals starting a new workout program and portion control eating plan for the first time. Some of my friends I have met along my journey, that have also become coaches, and I will guide you through getting starting and staying focused for the 30 day challenge. You will be part of a group with a shared vision to inspire and move forward toward your goals.
Let’s embrace the role all our emotions play to live a truly
good life!!
